The chief of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP)’s detective branch (DB) Harun-Or-Rashid has alleged that BNP activists have set fire to IDB building in the capital’s Kakrail and vandalized the Chief Justice’s residence.
He made the allegation while talking to journalists in front of the Chief Justice’s residence on Saturday (October 28) noon.
Chase and counter chase took place among Awami League, BNP and the police around 1:00 pm today (October 28) in Kakrail area of the capital. At this time, a few cocktails exploded. In response, the police fired rubber bullets and tear gas. At one point when the police retreated, BNP leaders and activists took a position on the road.
Eyewitnesses said that in the afternoon BNP leaders and activists took a position at Kakrail intersection. In this direction, the followers of former mayor of Gazipur City Corporation Mohammad Jahangir Alam came to join the peace rally of Awami League. At that time, BNP leaders and workers carried out the attack on the car. When the police came to stop them, they attacked the police.
Meanwhile, some people entered the residence of Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan. Miscreants attacked and vandalized the Chief Justice’s residence. Eight pickups and a bus were vandalized at the spot and the police box was set on fire.
