Hasan Sohrawardi to be put on remand if necessary: DB chief

Chief of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Harun-ur-Rashid has said that Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Sohrawardi will be put on remand if it is necessary.

The DB boss said this to journalists at his office on Tuesday evening.

Lt Gen (retd) Hasan Sohrawardi was taken to the DB office in the capital’s Minto Road on Tuesday evening for primary interrogation.

Earlier, in the afternoon, police arrested him from Model Town of Savar on charges of committing treason by resorting to lies in a bid to destabilise the country.

He was arrested in the case filed in connection with Mian Zahidul Islam Arefi, who introduced himself as an ‘adviser to US President Joe Biden’.

Hasan Sohrawardi is the second accused in the case filed by a Mohiuddin Shikdar.
