Construction of MRT Line-5 inaugurated

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work of MRT Line-5 (Northern route), which will be a 20-km line from Hemayetpur to Bhatara via Gabtoli, Mirpur-10, Gulshan, on Saturday (November 2) noon. The deadline for the Taka 41,239 crore project is 2028.
The Prime Minister also inaugurate the second phase of the much-desired metro rail service from Agargaon to Motijheel.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Agargaon-Motijheel section from the Agargaon station. Then, she took the metro to Motijheel for another inaugural programme at the Motijheel station and from there she inaugurated the construction work of MRT Line-5 (Northern route), said Managing Director of DMTCL MAN Siddique.
Commuters will be able to take the train from Uttara to Motijheel starting November 5, said Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL).
The Prime Minister will address a public gathering in Arambagh.
On December 28, the Prime Minister inaugurated the first phase of the first ever metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon.
