Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader said Jatiya Party (JP) wants to participate in the upcoming 12th parliamentary election and form an electoral alliance with the ruling party although uncertainty still remains over the party’s participation in the polls.
The AL veteran leader said this in response to a question over JP’s polls participation during a press briefing at the AL’s president’s political office in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Wednesday (December 13).
JP had informed AL that it wanted to take part in the election, but the uncertainty over the issue could not be cleared yet, he said.
Quader said, “They (JP) did not say that they would quit the polls although there might be uncertainty over it.”
