Jatiya Party wants 35 seats, AL not agreed

The Awami League (AL) wants to share the seats with the Jatiya Party candidates, who are popular and can win the election.
The Awami League has already given green signal in those constituencies to withdraw their candidates. But Jatiya Party wants 35 to 40 seats. Jatiya Party also wants both Awami League and Awami League-backed independent candidates will withdraw their nomination papers so that Jatiya Party candidates can easily win the election.
Following unsuccessful talks on seat-sharing last Friday, the Jatiya Party has announced its intention to engage in further discussions with the ruling Awami League in an effort to resolve the lingering issue.
As of now, neither side has disclosed specific details about the meeting's agenda to the media. According to sources, at the meeting, Awami League agreed to withdraw its candidates for Jatiya Party seats but it did not confirm about independent candidates.
Meanwhile, Sunday marks the last day for the withdrawal of nomination forms.
Jatiya Party Secretary General Mujibul Haque Chunnu told the media on Saturday at the party chairperson's Banani office.
Responding to inquiries about the number of seats under discussion, he said, “There was no discussion on the quantity of seats or any specific seats. In fact, our main focus has been on ensuring fair elections. The issue of seat compromise is not the primary concern.”
On the other side, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, a praesidium member of the Awami League, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the meeting with the Jatiya Party.
