The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has called a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal for Monday (December 18), demanding resignation of the ruling Awami League government and holding the next general election under a neutral caretaker administration.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the announcement at a virtual press briefing on Saturday (December 16) that the hartal will be imposed on Monday.
But the BNP deferred the hartal to Tuesday (December 19) due to the death of Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
The party’s Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi disclosed this at a virtual press briefing on Sunday (December 17) noon.
