JP announces 24-point polls manifesto

The Jatiya Party (JP) announced its 24-point election manifesto for the upcoming 12th parliamentary elections slated for January 7.
Party’s General Secretary Mujibul Haque Chunnu announced the manifesto in the Banani office auditorium of the JP chairman on Thursday (December 21) noon.
JP’s election manifesto was announced with the slogan “Change needed for peace, Jatiya Party needed for change.”
The election manifesto announced by the JP includes a provincial system involving eight provinces – Uttar Banga, Barind Tract, Jahagnirnagar, Jalalabad, Jahanabad, Chandra Dwip, Mainamati and Chattala.
The manifesto also includes reformation of the election system, keeping the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) free from government influence and repealing the Special Powers Act.
The party also made a promise to bring radical changes to the education system, which includes coordination between religious and convention education.
The manifesto also mentions formation of an Islamic Commission inviting religious intellectuals to ensure that no anti-Quran or anti-Sunnah laws are passed.
The commission will work in alignment with the government.
The manifesto also has a provision for a permanent place for the Bishwa Ijtema, which can accommodate over 10 lakh Muslims.
The party also pledged to establish necessary infrastructure to facilitate other religions.
The party also promised to introduce the death penalty if necessary to ensure safe food and maintain the foreign policy of friendship with all, enmity with none.
