“Azmi isn’t associated with Jamaat, his statement is personal”

Secretary General Golam Parwar said that that the former Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami Golam Azam’s son Amam Azmi neither has any relation with Jamaat, nor does he represent it. His statement is his own.

In a statement on Sunday (September 8), he said our attention has been drawn to the news published in some national dailies and online news portals regarding his opinion on the national anthem.

Parwar said he (Azmi) does not represent Jamaat-e-Islami. The speech is his own. So, there’s no scope to implicate Jamaat with Azmi’s comment and sow confusion.

Earlier on Tuesday (September 3), Azmi demanded upholding the ‘true’ history of the Liberation War as well as rewriting the national anthem and the country’s constitution.
