Moudud sees lack of coordination between govt and admin

Senior Correspondent: BNP Standing Committee member Moudud Ahmed sees contrast between speech of Home Minister and steps taken by law enforcement agencies over the party's peaceful programme.

He believes it happens due to lack of coordination in the government.

The BNP stalwart came up with the observation while speaking at a programme at the capital's National Press Club on Saturday.

'Bangladesh Youth Forum' organised the programme demanding release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.

Illustrating images of police obstruction to BNP's black-flag display programme Moudud said, "It was a peaceful programme of BNP. Home Minister had said the government will not bar to any peaceful programme. But it was obstructed. It means no value either of his leadership or his speech."

"He (Home Minister) said true. But law enforcement agencies did not follow his speech. He said one word but Inspector General of Police (IGP) who leads police said another word. It hints that there is a big lack of coordination in the government," he added.

Moudud said, "We do not want to be locked into any clash. Our leader warned us against rashness before she was sent to jail. And that's why, we declared for a black-flag show programme."

"We blocked no vehicle or road by this programme and committed no irregularities. We just were about to show black-flag standing on roads. But law enforcers bared such a peaceful programme," the BNP leader said.
