BNP keeps Khaleda Zia as rally chief

Senior Correspondent: BNP leaders and activists have started taking preparation for holding its scheduled rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital keeping imprisoned Khaleda Zia as the chief guest.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir will preside over the rally scheduled to begin at 2:00pm while its Standing Committee Member Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain will address the rally as chief orator.

From the rally, the party is expected to come up with its future work plan and some specific demands, including polls under a nonpartisan administration.

Thousands of BNP leaders and activists were seen to come from different areas in separate processions at Suhrawardy Udyan chanting various slogan, including the release of party chief Khaleda Zia, who is now in jail after being convicted in a corruption case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken adequate security measures centring the BNP rally at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
