Ershad prepares secret candidate list

Staff Correspondent:  Although Prime Minister's Special Envoy and Jatiya Party Chairman Hussein Muhammad Ershad has threatened to take part in the next general election independently, the party has taken a preparation to participate in the election in alliance with Awami League.

Jatiya Party has already prepared a secret list of 70 candidates for the grand alliance, party sources said.

It is truth that Ershad will participate in the election with the grand alliance. That is why he has made this secret list. Priority has been given to 70 candidates with three-star symbols beside them. The rest candidates have been marked with two-star symbols.

According to sources, Ershad will initially demand 100 seats to the Awami League president. If not possible, he will demand at least 70 seats. Keeping that in mind, the secret list with star marks has been prepared. The list will be handed over to the alliance leader after the discussion.

An allegation has been raised that due to influence of a syndicate of the Jatiya Party, the chairman has made this secret list. The syndicate’s favorite leaders have been included in the list and others have been excluded.

When contacted, Senior Co-Chairperson of the party Rawshan Ershad and Co-Chairman GM Quader said they did not know about the list.
