‘Ruling quarter must face trial for violating constitution’

Staff Correspondent, Chattogram: Gono Forum president and Jatiya Oikyafront leader Dr Kamal Hossain said that the ruling quarter will have to face trial in future as they are frequently violating the constitution.

He said, “People are the sole owner of the country but they are now being deprived of the state facilities.”

“Accept our seven-point demand immediately. Otherwise, you (government) would have to face trial in future,” he added.

Dr Kamal came up with the warning while addressing a rally in Chattogram city on Saturday.

Claiming that holding public rally is a constitutional right, Kamal said the government did not allow the Oikyafront to stage its rally at the Laldighi Maidan in Chattogram and that the ruling quarter must be held accountable for its denial.

Nagorik Oikya convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna said, “You (government) will have to leave the power and to ensure people’s voting rights. Otherwise, keep in mind, we know how to oust a government.”

Adding that election would not be held under the government, he said, “Our sole aim is to topple the government. We are united and it will be.”

Gonoshasthaya Kendra founder Dr Zafrullah Chowdhury said, “Now PM fears of her own shadow. PM, you don’t get scared. Here is Dr Kamal Hossain and Mainul Husein to provide you legal assistance.”

He further said, “Just wait for 10 days. All the intellectuals including left and pro-Awami League ones will join the Oikyafront by 10 days. Just wait and see.”
