Senior Correspondent: BNP has hinted to spare about 60 seats for its partners including 20-party alliance and Jatiya Oikyafront to contest in the upcoming 11th parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on December 30.
Party Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir came up with the hint while talking to reporters at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Political Office in Gulshan on Tuesday.
Fakhrul said, “We have so far nominated 800 aspirants for 300 parliamentary seats on behalf of 20-party alliance to contest the polls. This move has been taken up fearing cancellation of anybody’s candidature due to case or other reasons.”
Replying to a query, he said, “The 20-party alliance excluding Jamaat probably have been spared 15 seats. And total seat numbers allocated to the alliance and Oikyafront won’t be more than 60.”
However, the exact seat numbers shared with the allies will be disclosed later, Fakhrul added.
