Khaleda Zia secures bail in Cumilla arson case

Staff Correspondent: The High Court (HC) granted bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in an arson case in Cumilla.
The High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice SM Mozibur Rahman passed the order on Wednesday.
Lawyer A J Mohammad Ali moved for the petitioner while Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and Deputy Attorney General Dr Md Bashir Ullah stood for the state.
Bashir Ullah told reporters that the court granted bail accepting bail petition of Khaleda Zia. An appeal will be filed before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court challenging the HC order of bail.
On September 13, Comilla District and Sessions Judge KM Shamsul Alam rejected Khaleda Zia’s bail petition in the case. Later, Khaleda Zia filed an appeal challenging the lower court order.
