How these buildings get approval: Fakhrul

Staff Correspondent: Expressing deep sorrow for those who were killed in a devastating fire that originated at Banani’s FR Tower in Dhaka, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, “I don’t understand how these buildings get approval.”

The BNP leader came up with the comment while talking to reporters after visiting the FR Tower in Banani on Friday evening.

“I don’t understand how this building gets approval. The building owners are not complying with any rules and regulations. They have no firefighting system. They are not following any building code. How are they operating the buildings?” Fakhrul asked.

The country is facing such repeated fire incidents for lack of proper accountability, he alleged.

At least 25 people were killed and over 70 others injured in the devastating fire that broke out at FR Towner in city’s Banani area on Thursday.
