Senior Correspondent: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has given ‘sheaf of paddy’ symbol to its nominated candidate Golam Mohammad Siraj for contesting Bogura-6 by-polls.
The party secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir handed over the symbol at its central office in the capital’s Nayapaltan on Sunday.
BNP Chairperson Khaleda's Special Assistant Shimul Biswas was present there at the moment.
Awami League did not give any candidate for the constituency during 11th general election, but grand alliance nominated Nurul Islam from Jatiya Party for contesting the polls. Mirza Fakhrul Islam was elected from the seat with `sheaf of paddy’ symbol.
Though five MPs-elect from BNP joined the national parliament, BNP secretary general ignored to take oath that made the constituency vacant.
Later, Election Commission (EC) scheduled June 24 for by-polls in the constituency.
