AL to nominate popular and acceptable candidate: Quader

Awami League (AL)General Secretary Obaidul Quader said his party is considering popular, acceptable and transparent image holder to nominate candidate for city polls.

The AL stalwart said this while briefing at AL president Sheikh Hasina’s political office in the capital’s Dhanmondi on Friday.

The Road Transport and Bridges Minister said, “The Local Government Nomination Board will hold a meeting at Gono Bhaban at 6:00pm on Saturday with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in chair. The decision of nominating candidates for two Dhaka city polls will be taken in the meeting.”

“We decided not to nominate someone who is controversial for his deeds. Those are above of controversies will nominations for the polls,” he added.
