Taposh, Atiqul get AL tickets for Dhaka city elections

Awami League (AL) finally nominated Fazle Noor Taposh and Atiqul Islam as mayoral candidates for Dhaka’s two city corporation elections.

The party general secretary Obaidul Quader formally announced the names of mayoral candidates at Awami League president’s political office on Sunday.

Earlier, the decision was taken during a meeting of Awami League’s local government nomination board with the party’s president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair on Saturday night.  

The deadline to submit nomination papers is December 31. The nomination papers will be scrutinized on January 2, while the aspirants will have until January 9 to withdraw their candidature.
