Acceptable, popular candidates nominated: Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader said, nominations were given to the aspirants of Dhaka north and south city corporations elections following the criteria of acceptability and popularity.

Obaidul Quader made the opinion while replying to a question of newsmen after announcing the names of mayoral candidates at Dhanmondi in the capital on Sunday.

Those who are acceptable and popular, have got nomination, he said.

Obaidul Quader said, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina nominated the candidates following the consent of nomination board.

Earlier, Bangladesh Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced that his party nominated Atiqul Islam and Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh as its mayoral candidates for the upcoming elections to Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) respectively.
