MP Abdul Mannan dies

Awami League MP of Bogura -1 constituency Abdul Mannan died at a hospital in the capital Saturday morning (Inna lillahi wa inna elaihi rajeyun).

He breathed his last at the capital’s Labaid Hospital at 8:15am while undergoing treatment there, said Sayem Khan, the Awami League’s deputy office secretary.

He was in the Intensive Cardiac Care Unit (ICCU) of the hospital and was kept on life support, Sayem said.

Mannan, a native of Hindukandi in Bogura’s Sariakandi Upazila, was thrice elected to parliament from Bogura in 2008, 2014 and 2018.

He had previously served as an organising secretary to the ruling party and was also a former president of the Bangladesh Chhatra League.
