Awami League (AL) general secretary Obaidul Quader alleged that BNP is gathering hooligans from outside of Dhaka with a plan to grab polling stations.
The Road Transport and Bridges Minister came up with the statement in a press briefing at the party president Sheikh Hasina’s Dhanmondi office on Tuesday afternoon.
He said, “BNP is gathering armed hooligans in Dhaka to grab polling stations. They are plotting to foil the fair atmosphere of polls. They have also planned to bring out showdown against police. We have information in this connection.”
“AL government is ready to provide all kind of facilities to arrange a fair election. Election Commission (EC) should take measures against the ill motive of gathering hooligans,” he added.
Quader said, “If they expect a fair, free and neutral election, they should help the government to maintain a congenial atmosphere for polls.”
