BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said the incumbent health minister should step down as corruption and mismanagement have been massively reported in the entire health sector at the behest of his ministry.
“Director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has resigned amid severe criticism and scams related to Covid-19 tests. He should have been fired earlier. The health minister should also resign,” the BNP leader said this while addressing a virtual press conference on Thursday (July 23) noon.
“The entire health system has collapsed due to widespread corruption and mismanagement. The corruption is taking place since the coronavirus outbreak. The licenses of most of the Covid-19 dedicated hospitals have expired,” he said.
Fakhrul alleged that the government made an agreement with Regent Hospital allowing it to treat Covid-19 patients despite knowing that the hospital has no valid license.
