Law Minister Anisul Huq has termed BNP’s speech regarding the party’s chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s treatment abroad as false, baseless and misleading.
He also claimed that no politics has been made here over her treatment.
The law minister said this while addressing a press conference at his secretariat office on Wednesday (October 4).
He said that BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir was spreading false information about the application to send Khaleda Zia abroad.
“It is a legal matter. There is no political vengeance in this issue. Khaleda Zia is not allowed to get treatment abroad as per the provisions in the executive order. Now there is no chance to change it,” Anisul said.
Replying to a question about whether or not Khaleda Zia can seek presidential pardon, Anisul said, ‘Asking for a presidential pardon is a constitutional right, and everyone is entitled to do that.”
