Schedule in Nov, polls in Jan first week: Quader

Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader the schedule for the upcoming general election will be announced in the middle of November or earlier and the polls will be held in the first week of January.

He said this at a meeting held at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday (October 22) to mark National Road Safety Day in Dhaka.

While talking about the amendment of the Road Transport Act, Quader said: “Is there time to change the law? We’ll have to wait until January. Whoever comes to power in the elections in January can consider additions, subtractions, and amendments if necessary.”

Since 2017, the government has been celebrating October 22 as National Safe Roads Day every year.
