Police on high alert at Nayapaltan

A large number of police personnel have taken position on the main road beside BNP’s central office located at Nayapaltan in Dhaka since Sunday morning.

BNP’s Nayapaltan office, de facto, remained vacant since the party’s grand rally was foiled by police yesterday.

To avoid any untoward incident following yesterday’s foiled grand rally, police are on high alert in and around the area.

Meanwhile, BNP is observing a nationwide dawn-to-dusk hartal, which began at 6am today (October 29), protesting the recent police action during the party’s Nayapaltan rally.

A large number of BNP leaders and activists sustained injuries during the rally.

In response to the party’s call for a hartal, police have cordoned off the BNP office using crime scene tape.

Since the morning, no BNP leaders or activists were seen arriving at the central office, which remained locked.

To maintain security, a good number of police have been deployed in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan office. They are on high alert so that no untoward incident took place there.
