Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has categorically said that the country’s political problem can be resolved through a dialogue, and an unconditional dialogue on holding the next general election in a free and fair manner can take place in light of the Constitution.
The home boss made the remark while talking to journalists at his Secretariat office on Wednesday. Earlier, newly-appointed British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke called on him.
“We favour a peaceful dialogue, not violence. We welcome those who intend to take part in an unconditional dialogue,” he said.
“Our Prime Minister has already said we always want a peaceful solution. The door is still open for those who want to sit down for an unconditional dialogue within constitutional obligations,” he said.
He said the BNP is resorting to violence and creating a hostile environment rather than peaceful discussions, which goes against the wishes of the Bangladeshi people.
