Razzak`s torture story in Myanmar

Sujauddin Rubel, Cox`s Bazar: Border Guard Bangladesh`s Nayek Razzak was abducted following what Bangladesh government said was a shooting incident in Naf River at Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf between border patrols on June 17.

A BGB soldier was shot in the incident caused by a “misunderstanding”, while Nayek ‘Razzak’ was abducted by Myanmar’s Boarder Guard Police (BGP) on the day.

Bangladesh is continuing its efforts to return the BGB man while the Myanmar authorities have issued separate statements in this connection and tortured Razzak in a cruel manner since his abduction.

The two fishermen- Lalmohon Das and Jibon Das who were also taken to Myanmar on the day with the Razzak after the shooting incident but were released sometimes later.

Lalmohon Das narrated to risingbd.com how the incident was occurred and how Nayek Razzak was brutally tortured by Myanmar`s BGP men.

Lalmohon Das told to risingbd.com, "I and Jibon Das, my nephew, was catching fish in the Naf river like some other days and BGB men in two trawlers were started to search our boat but all on a sudden, a trawler carrying BGP men of Myanmar attacked on us."

"They started to shoot us indiscriminately at that time," says the Fisherman.

Lalmohon continues, "When BGB Nayek Razzak came out from the trawler to see what was happening, the BGP men caught and tied him and started to beat him indiscriminately."

"At last they took us together to their camp and continued to assault on Razzak and on the day evening, they released Jibon Das and me but Razzak not," assured Das.

Lalmohon Das also claimed, "On the day, the Myanmar`s BGP wanted to detain one Lutfar of BGB but they failed to hold him and detained the Nayak."

Meanwhile the Myanmar authority has published two photos of Razzak in facebook after his abduction.

Bangladesh summoned the Myanmar envoy later and asked him to take measures to release the abducted BGB soldier as soon as possible.
