Rampal power plant halts production again

Rampal thermal power plant halted production due to coal shortage since early Sunday (July 30).

Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Ltd (BIFPCL) Deputy General Manager Anwarul Azim confirmed the matter.

He said, “The first unit of the power plant halted the production around 3:30 am on Sunday (July 30) due to coal shortage. All kind of processing has been completed to import coal.  The power generation will resume once the coal arrived.”

Earlier, the power production of the plant shut due to turbine error July 16. Later, it resumed power generation after repairing.
