Top-order batter Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead the Bangladesh side in the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand as regular captain Shakib Al Hasan is out with an injury and vice-captain Litton Kumar Das has been granted a one-month leave.
“Litton wanted a two-month leave. We have given him a one-month leave. We told him to skip the first Test but to play the second one. But he wanted the leave to spend with his family. Shanto will be the captain for the two Tests,” Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) cricket operations chairman Jalal Yunus said while talking to reporters at the Sher-E-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Mirpur on Saturday (November 18).
The first Test is scheduled to be held in Sylhet on November 28 while the second and last Test will begin on December 6 in Mirpur.
