Sylhet Strikers, the current runners-up of the tournament, have lost all of their five matches, which put their playoffs aspiration in limbo.
Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has decided to take a break from the ongoing 10th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 tournament due to political activities, the Sylhet Strikers franchise informed in a statement on Wednesday.
He has become the Whip in the 12th Parliament.
Mashrafe will be available to play for the Strikers further in the season if there is an opportunity in between his political commitments and schedule, the statement said.
In the absence of Mashrafe, Sylhet Strikers' vice-captain Mohammad Mithun will be the captain of the team.
The Sylhet Strikers franchise has extended gratitude to Mashrafe for his commitment to the team in the tournament so far and looks forward to having him back when he is able.
