Pathum Nissanka hits double century in ODI cricket

Opener Pathum Nissanka became the first Sri Lanka cricketer to hit a double century in ODI cricket.
Nissanka scored 210 off just 139 balls to register the first-ever individual double century for the Lions against Afghanistan on Friday at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
The 25-year-old will go down in the ODI history as the 12th player to hit a double-century in international cricket.
He has become the third fastest to this elite feat only behind Ishan Kishan and Glenn Maxwell.
Sent to bat first by Afghanistan captain Hashmatullah Shahidi, Sri Lanka put up a total of 381 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in the match.
Nissanka was the star of the show building a patient innings alongside Avishka Fernando. The openers put together 182 runs in 26.2 overs, before Fernando was dismissed for a run-a ball 88.
Nissanka switched gears after that punished the Afghan side, remaining unbeaten at 210 off just 139 balls.
