Bangladesh beat Sri Lanka by 8 wickets in the second T20I to equal the three-match series 1-1 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.
After being asked to bat first, Bangladesh restricted Sri Lanka to post a decent 165 runs total. They lost their opener Avishka early in the innings, however, Kusal Mendis and Kamindu Mendis had a crucial partnership for the second wicket. But, both of them departed in quick succession as Bangladesh bowlers managed to pulled things back to an extent.
In reply, Bangladesh reached the target with loss of two wickets and 11 balls to spare. Shanto hit two sixes and four boundaries for his unbeaten 38-ball 53 and put together an 87-run stand with Towhid Hridoy, who remained not out on 32 off 25 balls featuring two fours and a solitary six, to take Bangladesh home comfortably.
The platform was, set by openers Liton Das and Soumya Sarker as the duo put together a rare solid start as they put on a 68-run stand to get their side off to a flying start. Liton scored a 24-ball 36 and Soumya managed a 22-ball 26.
