DU closed sine die, students asked to vacate halls by 6pm

Dhaka University has been declared closed for an indefinite period amid anti-quota protests.
The university authorities also ordered the students to vacate the dormitories by 6:00 pm today (July 17).
The decisions were taken in an emergency meeting of the syndicate of the university.
Earlier, the meeting began around 10:00 am in the office of Vice Chancellor A S M Maksud Kamal.
Meanwhile, huge number of police and BGB members were seen in alert position in front of the VC’s office premises.
Professor Dr Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Pro Vice-Chancellor (academic) of the institution confirmed the matter.
