BCB cannot guarantee that Shakib will be able to leave country 

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has expressed his concern over his safety and a safe exit from the country in case he is allowed to play in the two-match Test series at home against South Africa next month.

However, President of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Faruque Ahmed has said that they do not have the authority to guarantee whether Shakib will be able to leave the country if he returns. This assurance must come from the highest levels of the government.

Faruque Ahmed told media after a four-hour meeting in Mirpur on Thursday.

Amid criticism for his political career and off-form on the field, former Bangladesh captain and all-rounder announced retirement from Tests and T20Is.

Shakib announced it on Thursday in Kanpur ahead of the second Test against India.

He, however, wants to play home Test series's against South Africa in October.

South Africa are scheduled to tour Bangladesh for the two-Test series next month, but the dates and venues for the tour are yet to be finalised.

Shakib, a former member of parliament of the deposed Awami League government, has had a murder case slapped against him and countless other party leaders following the end of Sheikh Hasina's regime on August 5.
