Tabith Awal has become the new president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) following a landslide victory.

Chief Election Commissioner Mezba Uddin announced the result on Saturday (October 26) evening.
The election was held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at a five-star in the capital. 

According to the announcement, the number of voters was 133.  The two-time former BFF vice-president Tabith Awal secured 123 votes, around 96 per cent, and his rival candidate Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan got only five votes. Five voters were absent.

Tabith Awal will replace Kazi Salauddin who served as BFF president for 16 years from 2008 to 2024.

A total of 45 candidates are competing for the 21 posts of the BFF executive committee- two for the president, six for four vice presidents, and 37 for 15 executive committee members.

Earlier, incumbent BFF vice president Imrul Hasan has been elected in the post of senior vice president unopposed.
