Bangladesh beat Afghanistan by 45 runs in the opening match of Under-19 Asia Cup at Dubai International Stadium on Friday.
Afghanistan captain won the toss and sent Bangladesh to bat first. Young tigers managed 228 runs with loss of nine wickets.
Tamim hit 103 runs (133 balls), featuring eight fours and four sixes and Kalam Siddiki Aleen scored 66 runs.
Pace duo Al Fahad and Iqbal Hossain Emon took three wickets each, while their pace partner Maruf Mridha scalped two as Afghanistan lost their last six wickets for just 24 runs and got bundled out for 183 runs in 47.5 overs.
Bangladesh will face Nepal in their second Group B match at the same venue on Sunday.
