No possibility of introducing cricket in April too: Papon

The outbreak of coronavirus, which has claimed lives of more than 34,000 people globally, has halted sporting events across the world.
Bangladesh’s cricket has also been suspended due to the global epidemic. Now all the cricketers are passing leisure at home. Amid the quarantine period, they attentive to their fitness.
Dhaka Premier League had begun on March 15. After first round, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) declared it suspended till March 31 after government issued instruction in this regard.
However, BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon does not see any possibility of introducing cricket in April as well.
He talked to risingbd over mobile phone on Monday noon. Papon said, “We have yet known how and when we will get rid of the deadly coronavirus. So, I do not see any possibility of introducing cricket in April as well. In fact, we cannot discuss over sports at this moment.”
Sports events were suspended to help preventing coronavirus spread. There is no possibility of introducing cricket at this moment. Board chief is also worried over international schedule.
Bangladesh are supposed to tour to Ireland and England in May. But England suspended all kinds of sports till June. Ireland also suspended the series.
The following month, in June, Australia are scheduled to visit Bangladesh. But the future of the series is not fixed. The home series against Austria may also be deferred.
Nazmul Hassan Papon said we cannot introduce the cricket with our own wish. We need preparation to come back to the field. I’m worried over international series.
