Left-arm spinner Mosharraf Hossain Rubel, who has been battling a brain tumor for a long time, is now undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a hospital in the capital following the deterioration of his health condition.
Rubel’s childhood friend Niaz Morshed is regularly inquiring about him and posting updates of his health condition on his Facebook. On March 13, Niaz posted such a photo of Rubel where he was sitting in a wheelchair. Diagnosed with brain tumor, he is passing every second with uncertainty.
Left-arm spinner Rubel was diagnosed with a brain tumor in March 2019. However, Rubel recovered through treatment before his tumor resurfaced last January.
Wishes poured in for Rubel’s early recovery since the news of him being hospitalised broke out. He has been admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of United Hospital in Dhaka and has been receiving chemotherapy regularly.
The former cricketer has been suffering from brain tumor for three years. He received treatment in Singapore after the diagnosis. A lot of money was spent quickly and at one stage he stated that he would sell his flat.
Later, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and former cricketers came forward. His activities on social media suggested that he had been getting better before he was admitted to the ICU as his health worsened.
Rubel has played five ODIs for Bangladesh. He was one of the most prolific performers in domestic cricket with 572 wickets to his name.
