Diamond merchant’s millionaire son plays for Hong Kong

India is set to take on Hong Kong in their second match of Asia Cup 2022 today (Wednesday). Kinchit Shah is the vice-captain of the Hong Kong team. He is son of diamond merchant who has a team in the T20 cricket league in Hong Kong. Star cricketers like Darren Sammy played in that team.
However, not with his father’s money or influence, Kinchit Shah secures spot in the Hong Kong national team with his own merit. The young cricketer secures his berth in the national team after playing for the Hong Kong U-15, U-16, U-17 and U-19 teams.
The India-born left-handed batsman and right-arm offbreak bowler made his T20 debut for the national team in November 2014. So far, he played 43 T20 matches for Hong Kong and scored 633 runs. He also hit three half-centuries while his highest personal collection is 79 runs. He also bagged 11 wickets in T20 career.
Kinchit Shah bats with left-hand and bowls with right hand. He can perform as wicketkeeper as well.
He plays for the Hong Kong Cricket Club in the Hong Kong Premier League. He is skipper of the team. In the final of season in 2021, he played an innings of 54 runs off 34 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes and won the title for the team.
Mentionable, Kinchit Shah was born in Mumbai of India. The family left India for Hong Kong when he was only 3. His father Devang Shah is a diamond merchant who has businesses in Mumbai, Hong Kong and New York.
