Bangladesh’ s wicket-keeper batsman Litton Kumar Das has finally been picked up by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The franchise financed by Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan bought him with a price of 50 lakh INR during the IPL auction on Friday (December 23).
Litton Das remained unsold in the first call as no franchise showed interest in him. However, in the second call, he was roped by KKR.
Litton has been in a great form for two years. He is getting runs regularly. He is performing equally in all three formats.
Before the ODI series, India skipper Rohit Sharma spoke about getting chances for Bangladesh cricketers in the IPL. Rohit said, “I really hope they get chances. Because they are a quality team, quality players. I really feel, they can make a difference in the IPL team.”
However, Rohit’s side Mumbai Indians showed no interest in Litton but Kolkata picked the hitter batsman up.
Litton got the chance in IPL as the seventh cricketer of Bangladesh. In 2009, Mashrafe bin Mortaza opened the doors of IPL as a Bangladesh cricker. Kolkata took him. The following year Abdur Razzak was taken by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mohammad Ashraful by Mumbai Indians. Shakib and Tamim got chances. Shakib only got chance in rows. Tamim did not even get a chance to play the match. Then Mustafizur Rahman added to the list. Litton joined them now. Mustafiz was retained by Delhi Capitals.
