Bangladesh women reach Emerging Asia Cup semis

Bangladesh Women step into the semi-finals of the ongoing Women’s Emerging Asia Cup as the group B champions after winning their first match and the next two matches have been abandoned.
Bangladesh was scheduled to take on the UAE in their third and final match of the group stage on Friday (June 16). However, it was not possible to toss due to rain and wet field.
As a result, the match was declared abandoned as per the decision of the umpires.
Before this, in their second match, the Tigresses were supposed to play against the Sri Lanka but that match was washed out too.
Bangladesh blew away Malaysia in their first match in Hong Kong. Tigresses beat them by 97 runs that day. With one win and two matches abandoned, Bangladesh’s points are four.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan girls also have four points. However, being ahead in run rate, Bangladesh reached the semis as a group champions.
Bangladesh will play in the semi-finals against the runners-up team of the ‘A’ group. In that case, Bangladesh are likely to take on any of between India or Pakistan.
