Forex reserve slips to $20 billion

The country is facing dollar crisis due to various reasons, and the government is meeting various liabilities including import expenditure from the reserve.  As a result, Bangladesh’s foreign exchange reserve has slipped to 20 billion dollars.

Bangladesh’s net foreign exchange reserve on October 19 stood at two thousand 95 crore 78 lakh US dollars, according to a report of Bangladesh Bank on Thursday.  260 crore 70 lakh dollars declined in three months.

According to the conditions of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Bangladesh Bank started publishing information on reserve under BPM 6 rules on July 13 this year. Then according to BPM 6, the reserve in the country were two thousand 356 crore (23.56 billion) dollars.

In August 2021, Bangladesh’s foreign currency reserve was 4,800 crore or 48 billion dollars.
