South Africa beat reigning champions England by a huge 229 runs in a World Cup match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday.
England fell to its third loss in four matches so far, having previously been defeated by New Zealand and, embarrassingly, Afghanistan.
After posting a 400-run target, the Proteas bowled out England for 170 runs.
This was the 14th biggest margin of defeat in the history of ODI World Cups and the biggest for England. Their previous biggest loss in the marquee tournament came against India in the 1975 World Cup, when they lost by 202 runs at Lord's.
Heinrich Klaasen's sparkling hundred helped South Africa overcome previous game's batting debacle against the Netherlands as they posted a mammoth 399 for 7. Klaasen (109 off 67 balls) provided the final flourish with Marco Jansen (75 not out off 42 balls) after Reeza Hendricks (85 off 75 balls) and Rassie van der Dussen (60 off 61 balls) laid the platform with a 121-run second wicket stand.
