Afghanistan make history as they beat Pakistan

Afghanistan have made a history as they beat Pakistan by 8 wickets in the ODI World Cup-2023 match in Chennai on Monday.

Afghanistan caused another big upset in the World Cup when Hashmatullah Shahidi-led side beat Pakistan. This is the first win of Afghanistan against Pakistan in ODIs.

Chasing 283 for win in 50 overs, Afghanistan reached the target in 49 overs.

Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran laid a strong foundation, scoring 65 and 87 respectively.
Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bat first.  Top knocks from Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique propelled Pakistan to 282/7 in 50 overs against Afghanistan.

Pakistan lost an early wicket but Shafique played a knock of 58 runs and kept them in the game.

Later, Babar scored 75 and kept the momentum on Pakistan's side.

Finally, Iftikhar Ahmed and Shadab Khan also smashed 40 runs each and guided Pakistan to a good total.
For Afghanistan, Noor Ahmad took three wickets while Naveen-Ul-Haq took two wickets.
