Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the 31st match of ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata of India on Tuesday (October 31).
Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to bat first. The Bangladesh batters were first rocked by Shaheen Shah Afridi. They restricted the Bangladesh team to 204 runs, with Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr. taking three wickets each.
With a contribution of 56 runs from Mahmudullah, the Tigers scored 204 runs in 45.1 overs losing all wickets.
Fakhar Zaman and Abdullah Shafique then gave Pakistan a strong start in the 205-run chase. The pair added 128 runs for the opening stand. Mohammad Rizwan and Iftikhar Ahmed guided Pakistan to complete the run chase in 32.3 overs.
The win also kept Pakistan alive in the race for semifinals.
