Shakib ruled out of ODI World Cup, uncertain for New Zealand series

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup due to an injury. 

Shakib went to Pune to play their last match against Australia, but he has returned to Dhaka due to his injury.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed the news in a statement on Tuesday (November 7).

BCB Physio Bayjedul Islam said Shakib may need three to four weeks to return back his fitness. So, it is uncertain for Shakib to play in the upcoming New Zealand series.

Shakib hurt his left index finger while batting against Sri Lanka. He took pain killer and supporting tape to continue playing in the match. After the match, a x-ray was conducted in a hospital of New Delhi, he said.

Shakib will miss Bangladesh’s last match against Australia. The last match is very important for Bangladesh to qualify for the Champions Trophy 2025.

Shakib contributed significantly to the team's victory against Sri Lanka. In addition to taking two wickets with the ball, he played a brilliant innings of 82 runs off 65 balls with the bat.
