Anamul replaces Shakib in World Cup

Anamul Haque Bijoy has been called up as the replacement for captain Shakib Al Hasan who has been ruled out of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup due to an injury.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) issued a press release in this regard on Tuesday (November 7).

Earlier, the event technical committee of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 approved Anamul Haque Bijoy as a replacement for Shakib Al Hasan in the Bangladesh squad.

Shakib fractured the index finger of his lefthand during Bangladesh's match against Sri Lanka on Monday.

The world's number one all-rounder, scored 82 off 65 balls to guide the side to a three-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. He had earlier taken two wickets for 57 runs in a player-of-the-match performance.
